Today, the Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA) announced its new Executive Director, John Collar. Collar has broad experience across the biosciences with a recent focus in the laboratory and testing field. Currently, Collar serves as COO of Matrilinex (Westminster), a DNA testing lab startup. His resume includes leadership roles at a mix of startups – including Colorado-based Octagon Systems – and larger public companies like Amrion (a subsidiary of Whole Foods) and Baxter. These diverse experiences should give Collar a good base to relate to the equally diverse CBSA membership, all facing unique challenges in these difficult economic times. The fact that he was already Colorado-based was also attractive to the board of directors.
Collar offered these thoughts on his new post: “I’m very excited to join the CBSA in this leadership role and especially looking forward to building on the many positive achievements and programs that [Founding Executive Director] Denise Brown, the CBSA staff, board and member volunteers have made happen over the past six years for Colorado’s bioscience industry.” Collar will take over on December 8 upon which Interim Executive Director Chris Shapard will return to her previous role as Deputy Director. CBSA, a not-for-profit corporation providing services and support for Colorado’s growing biosciences industry, issued this press release.
