StillSecure, a Superior, Colorado based provider of secure network infrastructure software, today announced the acquisition of ProtectPoint Security, a Ft. Lauderdale supplier of managed security services. The acquisition is an effort to “round out StillSecure’s security offering by adding managed services – a key component for simplifying network security,” said Rajat Bhargava, StillSecure President and CEO, in a company press release. Alan Shimel, StillSecure’s Chief Strategy Officer, noted in a blog entry that increasing complexity within the security space also drove the purchase: “The age of the IT generalist being able to run and manage their own security is over. To wage an effective defense you need security experts. Security expertise is expensive and hard to come by. Therefore it is easier, more cost effective and more secure for many companies to outsource their security.”
ProtectPoint Security, which will maintain the Florida office, will add firewall, IDS/IPS, VPN, anti-spam, anti-virus, and content filtering services to the StillSecure product line. ProtectPoint is SAS-70 Type II certified, and runs its managed services from a 24×7x365 Security Operation Center staffed by certified security analysts.
