With a flick of a finger over the smooth crystal screen, iPhone users can now learn the exact day and hour when they can no longer afford the marvelous mobile device. Designed by Dana Guthrie of Golden, Colorado, the application ties into a customer’s stock portfolio and then integrates variables such as mortgage payment, number of dependents, and whether the user self-identifies as a hipster in determining zero hour for the sleek phone. When asked what brought about the idea, Guthrie responded, “I saw a friend of mine repairing a shirt with a piece of duct tape. At the same time he is paying $150 month for the AT&T data plan. While the iPhone makes him happy, I’ve seen him dine on ice chips and ketchup packets. It’s like, Dude.” The application, called iPawn, costs $4.99. For an extra $1.99 users can download the Deluxe version, which automatically lists the phone on Ebay when the countdown is complete. (April Fools)
