Albeo Touts Efficiency of C-Series Commercial LED Product

Albeo Technologies, Inc announced that its C-Series High Bay Luminaire has broken the $50 per kilo-lumen price barrier at an efficiency of 79 lumens per watt. The C-Series High Bay product uses white-LED lighting technology and is designed for industrial and commercial uses such as large retail facilities, warehouses, and data centers. For those not versed in lighting terminology, lumens are a measure of the amount of light produced making lumens per watt a measure of lighting efficiency similar to miles per gallon for fuel efficiency. While LED lighting options have always performed relatively well in efficiency, high initial equipment and installation costs have meant that users have faced long payback periods while they wait for electricity and maintenance (notably less frequent bulb changes) savings to offset the initial expenditure. At a cost of $50 per kilo-lumen when purchased in quantities of 250 units or greater, Albeo expects customers to see more palatable one to three year payback periods. Albeo has received two awards for the product: DOE’s 2008 NGL “market ready” award and Colorado’s “2008 Sustainable Medal of Honor” award. Albeo, headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, manufactures high quality, long-lasting LED lighting products for commercial and industrial facilities.
