Filtrbox and NewsGator announced a partnership today whereby Filtrbox will use some data collected by NewsGator to provide better results to their customers. Filtrbox, billed as “proactive market intelligence”, scours millions of traditional and new media news sources to provide a daily rated list of relevant content to users based on the “filtrs” (keywords) they set up. NewsGator, which aggregates content and provides RSS feeds, possesses a vast amount of metadata of over 50 million user actions per month (e.g. whether a user clicked on the item). According to Filtrbox CEO Ari Newman: “We analyze massive amounts of information to ensure the relevance and value of content we deliver” and now that “NewsGator has just added attention metadata to the mix, we can use that to further boost the information used by FiltrRank to rate articles.” Filtrbox and NewsGator are both Colorado-based companies headquartered in Boulder and Denver respectively.
