Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASTI), a developer of thin-film solar modules, announced that Dr. Farhad Moghadam has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer. Moghadam comes to Thorton, Colorado-based Ascent, from Applied Materials, Inc where he served as Senior Vice President and General Manager. Included in his responsibilities at Applied Materials was leadership of the Thin Films Product Group. This new addition to the management team comes less than a week after Ascent announced it had achieved 10% efficiency with its flexible Copper, Indium, Gallium, Selenide (CIGS) monolithically integrated modules, results independently verified by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
