OneRiot Announces $7M Series C Round

OneRiot announced today that it has secured a $7M Series C round led by its existing venture capital firms, Appian Ventures, Commonwealth Capital Ventures and Spark Capital. The company’s real-time search engine powers OneRiot.com and its API is used by third parties to deliver real-time search results. OneRiot differs from a traditional search engine through the delivery of results based on what is currently relevant – content people are viewing now and linking to on social networks like Twitter – as opposed to historical page views and number of linksages, a process popularized by Google and usually returning different results. Recently, OneRiot launched RiotFeeds, Twitter feeds that essentially serve as channels to aggregate Twitter content by topic (e.g. Sports, Fitness & Nutrition). Commenting on the additional financing, CEO Kimbal Musk said “This commitment from our existing investors is a big vote of confidence in the realtime search market, OneRiot’s product offering, and our team’s ability to execute.” OneRiot, which is headquarter in Boulder, Colorado and maintains offices in San Francisco, launched its real time search in November of 2008.
