Today it was announced that Boulder-based TechStars, a three-year-old startup incubator, will open an office in Boston for this summer’s incoming class of companies. The offering to the ten companies accepted to the Boston program will mirror that provided in Boulder, including mentoring to the founders by world-class entrepreneurs and provision of a small stipend and office space. According to an article posted this evening on TechCrunch, the two programs will largely be run separately, with the Boston office managed by TrustPlus CEO Shawn Broderick. Broderick, a twenty-year entrepreneur, began his career at Feld Technologies. Brad Feld, now a Managing Director at the Boulder-based Foundry Group, is a founder of and investor in TechStars.
Startups applying to the program can state their choice between the Boulder and Boston offices, and those that have already applied can contact TechStars to indicate a geographic preference. Application submissions are running on par with last year to date, with a final deadline of March 21.
